Sahadevi is also known as Vernonia cinerea Vernonia cinerea. It is a medicinal plant and this plant belongs to the Asteraceae family and this plant grows on its own only after the rains and can often be seen along the roadsides, in neglected places. The various constituents present in it such as sesquiterpenes, lactones, pentacyclic, triterpenes, alcohols, and alkaloids give it medicinal properties. Its use is beneficial in the problem of fever, inflammation, wounds, skin diseases, stones and urine also comes openly.

DESCRIPTION OF SAHADEVI
Vernonia cinerea L. (Astraceae) is an annual herb, known as Sahadevi in Sanskrit. It is a herb with many other pharmacological effects including antipyretic, antibacterial analgesic, anti-inflammatory. It also has hypoglycaemic and anti-diabetic activity. It has anticancer activities and is good for cancer related malignancies.
The flower buds of the Sahadevi plant are 6 inches to 3 feet high. Scandal – Thin, ribbed and branches are pubescent. Letters – of many shapes (lanceolate, oval); Inflorescences or microvesicles, 1-2 inches long and wide, are in the foreground of the manjaris. Flowers: – are in pink or purple color micro scales. Fruit: – 1.25 mm long, oblong. Flowers in rain and fruits in winter.
PLACE OF ORIGIN
It occurs all over India up to an altitude of 4 thousand feet.
The presence of alkalis has been found in it. The seeds contain 38% an oil. Saponins, sapogens, flavonoids.

TYPES OF SAHADEVI
According to Rajnighantu, there are two types of species, which are determined on the color of the flower of the plant.
MEDICINAL USE QUANTITY AND METHOD
Leucorrhoea is cured by taking 1 gram of Sahdevi root kalk with goat’s milk.
Slipada-Sahadevi: Mixing Hartal in the original kalk and applying it cures the chronic and unavoidable Slipada disease.
Grinding of blood sandalwood and Sahadevi and applying it is beneficial in slipada.
Boiling the letters and vowels of Sahadevi in oil and applying it is beneficial in slipped disease.
Vishphotak – By baking the caulk of Sahdevi in ghee and tying it on the blast, the explosives are extinguished.
Grinding the root of Sahadevi in the washing of Pidka-rice and applying it on Pidka is beneficial.
Filling the Sahadevi vowel in the Shatrakshat-Shatrajanya Kshat, putting the Sharpunkha vowel from above and tying the bandage of the veil leads to early planting of the ulcer.
By uprooting and tying Sahdevi root (Sahdevi) in the Pushya constellation, it is beneficial in dyspepsia.
Applying the paste of Sahdevi letter-swaras gives benefit in Visarpa and Palma.
The oil proved from Jvar-Sahadeviswaras is antipyretic.
By tying the root of Sahadevi in the head, the fever is quenched and good sleep comes.
By bathing the child with water proven from Sahadevi origin, bathing the child with guggulu, asafoetida, peacock feathers, forest and neem leaves protects the child from diseases and planetary defects.

No adverse effects are observed with normal dosage of Sahadevi herb.
